The program was enormously helpful for our son, “T”, then aged 8. It was hugely beneficial for us as parents too, to understand ways to help “T” with tracking words and revealing letters gradually as he sounded out. This was a revelation for me and I could see the strategies giving him confidence to try and be successful with words that would otherwise have been confusing.
“T’s” confidence improved rapidly and dramatically. I’m sure that his progress with reading was strongly linked to his boosted confidence. Having a focussed week of individual help with Julie, who showed great capacity to understand his interests and ways, was a very special opportunity.
Before the programme I felt uncertain and worried about what the block was for “T” and how to help him. I was unsure which path to take in giving him the support he needed. After the programme I could see that he had made big steps in his understanding of himself and how to go about deciphering words. He has since become an avid reader, and to our delight read all holidays and read all the Harry Potters in the summer. We are delighted and reassured.
Most definitely I would recommend Julie for her gentle manner and ability to connect with individuals. She was also very supportive and understanding of us as concerned parents.
The ongoing work that “T” did with forming all the words in clay was very important. I’m very glad he had support to continue with this at school.

The programme my Son did with Julie made a huge difference in my child’s life and reading is no longer a struggle or something he avoids.
Prior to doing the programme my son struggled with reading, he lacked confidence and this impacted on his self-esteem overall. He now happily reads, and will read out loud, which is something he never used to do. I am constantly amazed at the words he knows, and if he doesn’t know them he will give them a go.
I used to be very concerned about his reading levels and his confidence. I think he felt a little ‘dumb’ (a word he used – not something we would ever say), which was awful for him and upsetting for me to hear him say that about himself. After working with Julie it was like a little switch had turned on, he also understood that some of the other kids in his class had also done the programme with Julie so it normalised his struggles a little more.
I would have no hesitation recommending the programme and Julie to other people, I found Julie to be kind, patient, empathic and positive.
Thank you, Julie, – you made a world of difference to our son. We are so grateful he was able to work with you.

My daughter could read and spell but struggled with comprehension, she did a course with Julie and now she is doing well with her comprehension. She really enjoyed working with Julie as well. Thank you Julie.
